U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown on Friday [April 20, 2012] applauded Zachary A. Dollish, of Mansfield, who earned his Eagle Scout rank.

Sen. Brown sent an official letter of congratulations to the Richland County resident.

“Zachary and his teachers and family should be proud of this noteworthy accomplishment. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout means he has displayed the ambition and resolve needed to earn the Boy Scouts of America’s highest rank. They exemplify the skills needed to lead in the 21st century,” Sen. Brown said.  “From one Scout to another, I am proud of their leadership, and I am confident that this young man will enjoy great success in achieving their future goals.”

The Eagle Scout award is the highest ranked award a Scout can earn.

Eagle Scouts must demonstrate outstanding performance of the goals of Scouting: citizenship, character, and personal fitness.

A total of 56,176 Eagle Scout ranks were awarded in 2010.

Sen. Brown became an Eagle Scout in 1967.  He received his Eagle Scout badge in a ceremony attended by U.S. Sen. John Glenn.
